I'm taking on Cancer Council's The Longest Day...

For the third year in a row, I will be taking on the Longest Day Golf Challenge. This year I will be joined by 7 of my mates.  We will be playing 72 holes of golf in one day at Massey Park Golf Course. We will be to raising money for the Cancer Council of Australia. If we get through all 72 holes before sunset, we would have walked close to 40km’s (even more for me as I will most likely spend most of my time searching for my balls in the rough), all whilst carrying a 17kg golf bag on our backs!

Cancer affects us all. I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t had a direct family member suffer from Cancer. Personally, I have lost both of my grandfathers to cancer, my father is a Leukemia survivor, my 28-year-old cousin has just finished a gruelling round of Chemotherapy, and her mother has twice survived Breast Cancer.

This challenge pales in comparison to fighting a battle against Cancer, but we hope that in taking on this challenge, we can raise $8,000 as a team, which will bring the total we have raised over 3 editions of the Longest Day, to $16,000. This money is used to fund vital research in the fight against cancer.  

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and I want to help change this. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible, when you donate, you will receive a receipt that you can submit when completing your tax return at the end of the financial year.
